We specialize in early & pre 1900's historic homes. Historical framing and construction techniques, such as balloon framing, mortises and tenons, purlins, and post & beam, which many builders are uncomfortable with, are our specialty. In addition, we have built an expertise in repairing old foundations after many restorations of the now famous "Cape Cod Foundation".
Unlike other builders, our solution to restorations is not to tear down & replace. We will spend the time & effort to rebuild the original structure and retain it's character. |
One of our early historic home renovations was in 1984 located in Osterville. It was the first time we had ever seen a house with no type of foundation under the ground. This house sat on one layer of rocks above ground. The challenge, education and satisfaction achieved from the restoration of an early historic home once completed has to be one of the most rewarding experiences for us. |
